About the Project
The goal of the JCUTE initiative is to ensure that
secondary school students graduate with 21st century skill
sets. The island’s future economic prosperity is largely
dependent on the capacity of the education and training
systems to produce graduates that meet the requirements of
the global economy. By enriching the education system with
sustainable ICT programmes and consolidated ICT resources,
Jamaicans will benefit from an increased participation in a
new Global Economy.
The role of the PPP/JCUTE is to:
- Provide sustainable support for UTE education transformation
-
Coordinate connectivity with other ICT interventions
-
Facilitate strategic level negotiations with Government
-
Ensure policy implementation which reflects workforce needs
-
Ensure the replication of successful models
-
Facilitate partnerships with local, diaspora and global
financial institutions, and the donor community
Now that the initiative has begun, there is much to be done.
The first step is the establishment of the Interim Steering
Committee for the development of an Action Plan and the
Interim Budget. The Interim Steering Committee will
collaborate with the e-Learning project, target and engage
additional partners, and collaborate with existing
initiatives (MOYEC ICT Committee and the Joint Board of the
Teacher Education Project)
